  • Walsh XX Arch / Wedge Firebricks

I bid on a few lots of firebricks from a Fireplace & Brick Store that went out of business near La Crosse, Wisconsin last week but I missed out on the pallet of 270 9" standard firebricks I wanted (went for over $500), but I did win a lot of about 120 Walsh XX arch bricks and another 50 wedge shaped bricks for $45

I'm curious what these were used for and how old they might be. I don't know if they would be useful to use on my oven build, sine there is not enough of them. Maybe they could be used in the arch? The Walsh XX bricks are 6lbs each.

Looks like they would work for an arch. You probably don't need a full 9" for the arch and by trimming them down you will get a nice square unchipped end.
