  • Help Identifying Suitable Bricks

    Hi all,

    Supercool forum and community

I was able to collect some bricks for free and I think they
will be okay, but I am not sure.
So, I was hoping if some of you guys could help me out of
my misery and confirm that they are suitable.

They are quite old, but still sound and good.
Apparently they came from chimneys that were part of a
gun powder mill and production site.

The bricks are stamped with names and logos.

I intend to use them for the inside dome. And will use
normal new fire bricks for the oven floor.

I've taken some pictures which hopefully will help
with identifying these bricks. And fingers crossed
    they will be suitable.

    Thanks so much in advance!

It won't let me post pictures, but I've since had a brick expert check them
      and they're not suitable.
      Thanks a lot anyways!

I'm not sure what the problem is. It may be the size of your pics etc. But, I "right clicked" on your image icons, it prompted, (open image in new window) the pics show up fine there .

I can't tell you anything about those brick other than they would make a very beautiful face brick for an oven.

I just logged in my old Internet Explorer account. I can't see the icons either there.

              But, some great looking brick!

I am using Google Chrome. I had some problems with I.E. being compatible with the new FB style.

                  Sen,

Go to Bookemdanno's thread, he is from the UK and he did a build with solid reds similar to the pictures you posted. He may have some insight. Ditto on what Gulf says about using the brick for facing. They you have a nice look to them.

                    Thanks guys!

I'm definitely using them for the outside and base of the oven.
I've sourced bricks for the inside dome and floor, so will use them.

                    Cheers!

Just read the whole thread, great oven and details!
Will be consulting it whilst doing my build!
