  • High Density Brick vs Medium....Again

    Hi guys,
I know this has been beat to death but the new forum won't let me search for some reason.

I have a supplier for new High Density tapered bricks for $2.80 ea, nearly half the cost of most retailers in the area for new medium duty.

From what I have managed to read it sounds like this is ok for the dome as long as we follow the basics and use the medium duty for the floor with insulation underneath.

Is there a downside to using the high density for the dome other than the cuts? The FB write-up makes it sound like it will retain too much heat.

You want to use low duty for the floor. As far as the rest of the dome and vent it really does not matter. My floor is low duty and I found out after I was h as lf done I had a mix of high and super duty. It cooks great so far. It would be cool to do the whole thing out of taper bricks then you could keep all your mortar joints nice and skinny. Good luck on your build.
