What are people paying for fire bricks these days? The lowest price I've found so far in the Boston area is $1.80, with lots of places at $2.20-2.40. I see reports elsewhere (and perhaps long ago) of bricks at $1.10. Is that ancient history? Or just a cheaper part of the country?

I bought my ceramic fiber insulation from Smart Ceramics. 10 Hancock at. Woburn. 781 935 2221. I called them and they price matched the insulation others were selling on e-bay. They have everything you need just check pricing. I also bought the calcium silica board for under the fire brick floor from them but beware it does absorb water. I found fire brick at Masonry supply in Raynham, Ma for $1.50 each after I bought them for more elsewhere.

Thanks! Masonry Drywall Supply in Raynham turned out to be the least expensive source I found, at $1.60 now. Most places are over $2. Went down there on Monday and bought 240, which I hope will take me through most of the project. Appreciate the lead.
Smart Ceramics was more expensive on insulation than mail ordering from CA. I ended up going to Lynn Manufacturing. My build thread: https://tinyurl.com/y8bx7hbd
