house bricks for opening of oven

hi i would love some feedback on using black house bricks for my opening see link (https://www.midlandbrick.com.au/Shop...994/3522/Cored) i planed to use fondu cement for the construction then a white morter almost like a grout for the effect

Do you mean the front arch or do you include the the whole gallery and chimney entry in your plan?

If it is the "decorative front arch" only you should be fine.. However, be aware most ovens will have some amount of smoke come out the front and the white grout well soon become black and not really possible to clean.

yes it will just be for decorative arch i have taken into account that there will be some blackening from smoke may consider black mortar
i spoke to a wood heater manufacturer today and he thinks i will be fine as well to use the bricks
