Play Sand Good or Bad?

I have been struggling to get supplies. I have got lime from A local garden center. It is "dolomite lime" is this the same thing as normal lime used in the home brew????

Also I can only source play sand for the mortar. It seems quite course to use in a mortar will it be ok or do I need to find some building sand which is alot finer.

You need hydrated lime, sometimes called builders lime. Go to a building supplies outlet. Most landscaping suppliers stock both hydrated lime and bulk sand.
