  • Homebrew mortar question

In the FB instructions it is mentioned that the home brew mortar is made with portland cement as one of the ingredients.
Does it matter what type of portland is used?
I mean like type "S" or type "IA" Type "II" and so on?

Type S Portland is a mischaracterization. That is what some folks call a 2 parts portland to 1 part hydrated lime mix. Or Type S "masonry cement" to be more exact. Type 1 (general purpose) portland cement is the easiest to find and is what is recommended.

EDIT: Repalced the term "mortar" with the terms "masonry cement".
