Hey everyone. I've been trying to source used/secondhand/discounted bricks because where I live fire bricks cost about 5 dollars new. I got a good deal on about 100 bricks not too long ago. However, they appear to have been left outside for an extended period of time because there is a good layer of white mold on about a third of them. I scraped it off the other day thinking that would be the end of it but checking today the mold is right back. I assume this means that mold has started growing in the pores inside of the bricks.
Are these bricks still safe to use? My plan was just to soak them in some vinegar water for awhile to kill all the mold, then let them dry out again. Anyone see any issues with this?
