  • Indispensible tool UK version

Any ideas on simplest way to construct a dome construction aid using cheap components we can access/source easily in the UK? Preferably without welding.

    Thanks,

    Pete

I am planning on using a small lazy susan with a wooden stick mounted on it with a small hinge. At the top of the stick I will just screw on an angle bracket. By using the lazy susan I will be increaseing my dome height slightly due to the thickness of the lazy susan, unless I make some adjustments during the build, but I don't think that the 1/2" or so height will create a problem.

Let me clairify, when I say stick it is actually a 2" square straight piece of wood.

Yes, these tools can very easily be made using just wood, screws, and a small hinge....in several different variations. There's no need to weld.

I think constructing the tool is the easiest part of the oven building process.

          Hey Pete,

The indispensible tool can be crafted with any material. Here is my crude version of the "I" tool.

I've also provided some pics of the tool in "action."
