  • insulation question

I think I messed up and maybe deleted my original post.

We are in the process of putting together a casa 2G 100. It will be enclosed. The stand is in process right now, the floor will be poured tomorrow.

    My question:
In addition to the insulating blanket provided, do we need to fill th eenclosure with loose perlite or vermiculite as well?

Sorry if this has been asked before.

    Re: insulation question

    Hi Jic,

I used 3"-4" of blanket then added 3"-4" of vermiculite/portland cement on top of that.

I started to use loose fill vermic, but the stuff goes everywhere and it takes a lot of vermiculite to fill an enclosure. The vermiculite cement went on easily and gave me a nice bonus layer of insulation. My oven retains heat very nicely.

If you skip the vermiculite you'll probably be fine, but our mantra here is "You can't use too much insulation!"
