  • Metal studs for the stand?

Has anyone used 2 x 6 metal studs for the oven stand? I'm building a house for my oven with 2 x 4 metal stud walls; so I got the thinking (dangerous) that maybe I should do the stand with metal, too. Seems like in all my reading to prep for this project that I saw a picture of a metal stud stand, too.

I have a source for all of the stuff I need and expect to start building a 42" in two weeks.

I don't see why not, but you will have to engineer the base using metal studs, that is to say, do some calculations as to loads. The beauty of using CMU is that they are so far into overkill that no engineering is needed.

Take one of the studs and twist it by hand . You will find it is very flexible. Typically, they work in conjunction with the wall to provide the structure. I would not build a pizza oven on unsupported steel framing studs.
