Hello. I'm building a 64' x 45' oven, with a hearth just below the main oven, and I'd like to know how much perlite will be needed for the hearth slab insulation (3' thick), using the 5:1 perlite/cement ratio. I would also like to know if it's necessary to wet the perlite every day for 7 days, as it apparently takes a long time to dry.
One more thing: Is it necessary to add a chimney to the hearth, in order to prevent smoke from going up to the oven? If so, where should I place it?
