I like the look of it. Why the slot in the chimney?

                Re: Polo's Thread

You will still lose masses of heat through the ovens contact with the concrete slab so you are wasting your time with the floor insulation.

I know you will lose heat unfortunately i was not aware that needed insulation before i started reading the forum, i guess i will still do it as it is, thanks anyway the chimney will have a trap to close it whenever i want will not have that opening when its finished

                    Re: Polo's Thread

It is unfortunate that you found us too late. Adding the insulation under the floor will definitely help. The good news is that firebrick isn't that great of a conductor of heat. Hopefully the loss from dome to slab will be minimal.

Hello, my oven is almost finished, and the question is if this going to work, I am not sure yet, but started curing process last week, yesterday I fire it up a little bit longer, aprox 35mins not that much wood, and it god pretty hot that was yesterday at around 10 am, this morning still feels warm/hot, I am surprised thats almost 24hrs and without a door, I didn't pushed to the limit yet and still got pretty hot, can't tell the exact temps just ordered a Laser thermometer, will keep posted, here are some pics shows when starting the fire, still have some work to do , but is looking good.
