  • design of compact corner stand

I have limited space due to the location. It will be a corner installation, and I will have plenty of counter space to the left, but can't expand too far in the other directions

    I will be building a 36" high-vault, walled-enclosure-style, using 8" slump blocks.

I see in the Pompeii instructions pg 17, there is a diagram of a corner installation. The dimensions look like 46"x46" square. Is that the edges of the block stand, or just the hearth, or what?

If I really need 59x70 I may need to re-evaluate

What is the most compact stand you have seen around here?

Seems fairly high? You need to get the heat down to where the food will be so a lower oven would be better.

For a 36" interior diameter oven with wall enclosure figure as this:
      36" for oven floor
9" for brick dome using half bricks
      8" of insulation(depends on material)
      8" of wall enclosure

total of 61" wide by 61" deep minimum. You will need an small extension of your base for your vent opening and flu for a corner of at least 10" as well.

Hope that helps. You can always build an oven that will fit the space you have. Dont scrap the plan just because a smaller oven is all you can build.
