I am considering encasing my entire oven dome with a perlite/cement mixture formed to the shape of my final enclosure, then adding Faux brick as the finish. This would eliminate the need for metal studs, hardiebacker, etc. The minimum thickness of the perlite/cement mixture around the dome would be 4", but in areas it may be 6-8". Any thoughts, advice, or comments on the pros and cons of this technique?
