Re: Up up and away (dome)

Thanks guys.. I can only do one more course
Today. Then I need to do insulation and stucco.
I want to make sure I blend chimney in with arch
Of the stucco. So I gotta do that next I think. I
Only have one 50' roll of 1"x12" blanket. I'm
Planning on 3" so I'm going to ball park guess I'll
Need two more rolls. That is a pretty big dome..

        G'day Bubb
Looking good! Are you still planning to do the brick over the dome as in that pic you posted? How much CF blanket did you finally achieve over the dome. It certainly turned out pretty smooth for blanket.

Dave I got 3" on and wire. That's first coat
And I ran out of light. The file pic I was using
I just liked the front entry way. I'm not doing
Double brick just stucco. Saturday I'll finish
Stucco nice and smooth. The Monday I got
All day weather permitting to work on the
Chimney. I'm scored free stone for covering
The base. I get this done end of the week
I'll start my little curing fires..

3 in of blanket is worth 6 in of pearlcrete in insulation value they say so I think you got that well and truly covered. There is something to be said for using 1/2 inch as its easy to keep it smooth I would hate to wrestle with 1 in.
The dome pretty smooth with the first layer do you can only improve on that. You might consider to use an acrylic render layer for your last layer as its more water resistant and resident to expansion and contraction. The local products sorry Ill leave that up to you.
You have got to be happy thus far that's looking very smart

Re: Up up and away (dome)

Dave I did industrial insulation younger
In life and have a neat installation stapler
That almost stiches insulation. I'm planning
On a roof to keep weather off. So one maybe
Two more layers of stucco I'm sure it will be
quit smooth round. Really bighting at the bit
to finish chimney. Have some design features
In mind for that. Went to a local collage and
Looked at the brick work. Great place to get ideas
Things that are easy to do, but give the most pop!
Hopefully I'll be on that by Monday.

Stucco done! Didn't go perfectly smooth, wife
wanted a little texture for looks. Now I'm on
Finshing the chimney. Base is scratch coated
ready for stone.. Man I can't wait to fire this
                  thing up.
