  • starting a 32" build

    Hi!
I'm still new to the forum and definitely appreciate tons of info published here. Honestly I though I'm ready to stat the build but found myself lost with a first attempt to sketch building plans.
So at the moment I modeling oven opening and would like to hear your opinion? You can see that the top side of the arch as is has about .5" gap. Is this acceptable?

    G'day
I'm like you I like too see something in front of me.
But your doing things the hard way.
Go to the forno shop and put a free set of plans in the basket. They will e- mail a PDF. Plan. That will give you the basics.

With the arch you have at the moment you have a large gape at the top, better suited to a single pre cut unit or keystone to lock it together.
If you were to make it a more gradual curve the top gapes would be smaller.
If you were to use thinner units ( bricks ) those gapes would be smaller as they would be spread over more an individual units.

I agree...try adding another brick height to your buttress sides, that will give you a shallower arch and reduce the gaps between the bricks.
