  • Question about first row of brick

    Hi
I am getting ready to start my build, I am building on cal-sil board. my floor bricks are cut to the interior diameter, My question is since my first row will be on the cal-sil board do they set dry meaning no mortar under the brick, I know that they will be mortared in between and their will be a slight gap between the floor brick and the first ring. Common sense would be that they are not but I thought I would ask
    Thanks Bill

Hi Bill. You are correct, no mortar underneath, just between. Best of luck w/your build!

Re: Question about first row of brick

      Hello Bill

      Good luck with your build.

I am a few days ahead of you. Up to chain 6.

I had some of the dry Fire Clay/Sand mix from the hearth spread under the first course of bricks. Used it to help level the bricks.
