Recipe for Refractory cement

3-2-1
sand , cement and fir clay
add water and leave time to set up .
Should not have a roaring fire for first fire-
cure easy and slow for first fire.
This is an old tried and true recipe .

A measly 100, eh? You've only got 526 to go to come up to my level, nyah, nyah . I'll go with the Master Builder title; sounds pretty fine to me. Already got the Caputo, courtesy James. Great stuff it is, too.

Honestly , It has been 20 years since I used this formula . I am a blacksmith and it is a standard formula to cast a forge base to use with coal or for that matter any fire source. I would use the cleanest sand i could get and experiment on a small scale and you will easily figure it out . I have heard people add vermicualite or ashes to make it fluffier . See my site at

No idea about lime , sorry . I would stick to formula . The last time I used it it last for years and years .
