Would be wise to use mineral wool boards from Roxul under the floor?

Re: Mineral wool
G'day
The rockwool manufacture by CSR here in Aust comes in various densities and temperature ranges. It would probably be the same in the US. It would pay to check as I doubt the domestic one would suit

Re: Mineral wool
Thank you Dave for your reply, it seems that CSR and Roxul are one and the same or part of the same family. The local distributor claims that it can withstand up to 1200 F. I am wondering if is suitable to use it for insulation under the floor over four inches of perlcrete. It is cheaper than the Calsil and the warehouse is only 10 miles from home, however I don't know if is strong enough to hold up the weight of the dome. I am also thinking using only the perlcrete. Still in the planning stages and sourcing materials.Last edited by Ilfornaio; 02-02-2015, 08:24 PM.

Re: Mineral wool

Once you have caste some pearlcrete you'll realize that an oven even though heavy has a large foot print for its weight. Pearlcrete can be dented with finger yet it supports on oven because the weights is spread out. If Roxol makes a product for use in a car garage I'm sure they have one to support an oven.
The US site has not much in the way of technical data so I'm thinking they want you to talk to a salesman. If you want the weight of an oven go to the Forno oven kits and find out there weight of the kit per given size.
