  • Florida ovens

I'm preparing to build an oven. I have a screened pool enclosure - fiberglass screening. I'd prefer to build the oven inside the enclosure, on the concrete lanai. However, I'm concerned that sparks will hit the screening and cause holes. Does anyone have relevant experience? Do spark arrestors prevent all sparks or only reduce sparks?

    thanks.

    Hello Ccalvo

You would need a chimney that would extend above the screen.

My chimney is tall at 11' as it goes through the attic space. I do not see sparks coming out of the chimney or out of the front of the oven. When I have it fired up with a lot of wood flames can be seen licking past the inner arch and up the chimney. Pushing the fire further back in the oven helps to prevent this from happening
Fitting a spark arrestor may be required by the fire department in some areas.
