Re: Extreme Insulation Need Advice
I wanted to start back then but between a lack of work and then a re model and then a kid. I had to wait a while to get started. I broke ground in April this year and have done everything since then. But yes I have been around her for a long time.

I reinforced the top of my form with 2 x 6s as the vertical forms were 1 x 6s and would probable have bowed out. I should have screwed the 2 x 6 on from the outside not the inside.
My form is 2 x 6 horizontal, 1 x 6 vertical then a band of 2 x 6.
You can see the wedges on top of the blocks.

Re: Extreme Insulation Need Advice
I thought so but one of your last posts got me thinking it was a dome. I think you will find wrapping a barrel is easier and less wasteful than a dome. I used 2 boxes to cover a 36" dome in 3 1/2" with a little to spare.
4 boxes will be more than enough with any extra being used for the door.

Hello
Did I miss something along the way? Are you building a Dome or a Barrel vault oven?

Re: Extreme Insulation Need Advice
Thanks for the input. I am guessing my self. I am planning on make it out of granite instead of tile. I have broken pieces of granite and I was planning on using it. Yours looks really nice, but there is no way I would do it that way. Its way too much work for me. But now I am second guessing. My oven will be really FAT kind of like this one below. So not sure.

As my previous picture demonstrated I haven't the discipline required to be so exact, having completed the blue/black central stripe on mine as a homage to Gaudi I got a bit carried away, hence the octopus !
Go for it; just don't underestimate the work involved.
