Working with this existing framing left by previous owner. Reading on how to protect the wood under the pizza oven. Is there a thermal mat I can put in deer it before I put the vermiculite cement down?

Wood framing? How to protect it from the heat

Is it all wood? I'd be worried about protecting it from the mass of the oven. You should do a forum search for wood base/stand and see what has been done and or discussed in the past.My build thread

I'd be more worried about it rotting in the future than burning. My Build Pictures

Like I said some ovens can be very heavy depending on size and how they are constructed and enclosed. If you want to build a larger all brick oven you might want to consider building a cinderblock stand. The cost and amount of work to get to where you are at using bricks would not be that significant. My build thread

I would agree whit all the others. I would be less concerned about fire and much more concerned about the weight of the oven. If you build a proper stand then it could last for centuries it is not that hard to build the stand. A few hundred dollars is all it will add to the costof the oven. I personally would not try save that little bit of money and compromise the long term stability of the oven.
