thanks. I googled cellglas and couldn't really find anything. I'm waiting to hear back from the vendor to see if what he's calling cellglas is actually foamglas. I've asked for data sheets.... we'll see. Will keep you posted. Otherwise I'll find another vendor.... or as a last resort, just get 2 layers of the 3/4 from granger (stack them to get 1.5' thick)... but thanks for the heads up.Last edited by CapePizza; 07-21-2020, 08:13 AM.John

so just to follow up. The original vendor came back to me and confirmed it is Foamglas he quoted. However I found another vendor in NJ (Metro Supply Company) who carries brand name Foamglas in 1.5 and 2 inch blocks. One needs to buy by the box which is 48 sq ft ($322 for the 1.5 inch which is the thickness I'm looking for). So seems I have 2 vendors to choose from (or others who might be on the hunt for the product). The guy in NJ was very helpful and gave me a lot of info about the product (smells like rotten eggs if the cells are broken :-)John

Distribution International should carry it but I do not think there is an office in MA. You do not have to use FoamGlas, you can do other means of protecting the CaSi from water wicking, ie raise the CaSi off the hearth via tiles and install weep holes in the hearth for water egress. If you can find FoamGlas great but not a deal killer, the new version of Thermogold 12..now called Thermogold 1200 is a water resistance CaSi board. I think the producer is phasing out 12 and now producing 1200.Russell
