    Fire it up again and throw some sheet plastic over it. If it’s still purging itself of water there will be condensation on the underside of the plastic.

    Thanks for the reply, Mark. All the Vermicrete layer is on now and covered. The weather is getting colder and wetter here as we slide into autumn so I'll keep monitoring it as it cures,

    I'd suggest a minimum of one week drying time. I've seen some sources recommend 3-4 weeks. It would make sense to keep rain off it so I'd suggest covering it with a tarp while drying, but not a plastic tarp as that will 'sweat'. With my own build, I used a cheap gazebo to keep the unfinished dome dry.

  • How long should I leave my Vermicrete dome insulation before the final render coat?

    I've just applied a 50mm (2") Vermicrete insulation layer over my ceramic blanket layer (50mm, 2") which sits on a homebrew casting. When can I go ahead and apply the final outer concrete render layer? I've already run a series of curing fires in the oven. I'm going to include three vents in the final layer.
