  • sand - lime bricks for support oven

Hello, I have started with the ground slab and must start with the walls for the build plate. I want to make the build plate from pre-made concrete. They are 200x100 cm and the weight is 500 kg. Can I build that on sand-lime bricks that are 10cm thick.
    Thanks, Adrian

    Hi Adrian,

Starting with a large precast slab will be faster than a concrete pour, but will require some serious and expensive lifting equipment. Not knowing the plan for the stand or the size and therefore the weight of the oven you plan to build, can’t really advise on the foundations plan. Other considerations are slope, climate and subsoil depth and type. I suggest you run your plan by a local builder before proceeding.

Dave, we live on sand and the ground is dry. We have a mini shovel for lifting the 500 kg concrete plate that will be on the lime stone wall's on which I will build the 42" neapolitan oven. Monday I start building the wall's, laying the first row on cement, The ground slab is been poured and is very thick, 15 cm with one layer rebar. I am confident this will work. Adrian

Have you calculated the weight of a 42” oven including the substantial size and weight of the stand required to support it?

The pressure they can take is 10/n per mm2, so that is 100kg per 10x10 cm. The wall is 2 meter long so that makes 2000kg per wall. The slate I lay on them are 500 kg each so the construction may bee 1500 kg for one wall and there are 4 of them so there is no problem it seams.
