I started the firing process and i just saw this crack form. I also have little cracks all around the dome. What should i do to fix this and to prevent this? Also what should the temp be on the oven floor?

Re: Have a crack in my dome
Cracks happen - throw a blanket on it , cover it with your cover of choice, and cook with it. What you are seeing is pretty much normal.

how did you get those pieces to stay? did you use liquid nails. Cause on my oven the last four courses came out sloppy.

Re: Have a crack in my dome
I used hot melt glue I tried supper glue at first but it didn't hold nearly as well as HM. The only down side was when it got to temp, it dripped onto the floor. But one fire later - all gone.

If you can't find any, I believe vermcrete is also a perfectly acceptabe alternative. Personally, if I lived in the US, and if it had been available at the time, I would have gone for the FB insulation blanket, which strikes me as being a really good deal.
I dunno about the temp, my thermometer doesn't go up that high, but I just fire my oven until it goes white."Building a Brick oven is the most fun anyone can have by themselves." (Terry Pratchett... slightly amended)
