No. The sand will suck the heat out instead... use proper insulation, either board or vermiculite concrete. We've seen it time and time again- with people having to go back and rework their floors to get them insulated, or just tear down and begin again.

do you think using sand under the floor is fine for isulating the floor so the concrete doesn't suck the heat out of the brick.
