  • Soap Stone

I was curious if anyone had used a solid slab of soapstone as the floor of the oven? It is very dense, nonreactive and easy to cut and shape. I'm sure it would hold heat very well due to its high density. I was planning on placing it on top of the concrete/vermiculite base.

    Re: Soap Stone

I think the main problem has been price. Soapstone is extremely spendy. Firebrick are relatively cheap. Depends on how you want to spend your money!
