    Bob,

Great lead! Take some pictures also. We may be able to share an order if need be.

Sounds good to me Tony, I'd be interested in doing that.

I'd give it at least this week to show up since, it's comming from Ohio to my office.

        Tony,
Here are photo's of the arch bricks. I'll sketch up the the dimensions of each tonight or tomorrow. Boxes must have dropped so they are not all perfect.
        They are type:
        Arch #1
        Arch #2
        Wedge #1

Not trying to burst anyone's bubble, but have you inquired into the cost of these tapered bricks? I remember rushing right to them at both a brickyard and refractory specialist that I visited, only to find out they were $4 - $7 each, depending on degree of taper. Hopefully, you've found a more reasonable supplier. It might be worth the extra $$ for the entry arch, but an awful lot of money for an entire dome.

At 67 cents each for standard low duty firebricks, it made sense to cut them as I saw fit.

I realize that the cost may be up there a bit. Haven't checked yet but I will. You got 67cent fire bricks wow.... that's great. They are $1.20 here in Palm Beach County.

Yeah, 67 cents was a great price, BUT.....precision made, they were not. All dimensions were a little off, no two bricks were the same size. instead of being 2 1/2" x 4" x 9", there were 2 1/4" (roughly) x 3 7/8" (roughly) x 8 3/4" (roughly). Since my plan was to cut everything to fit (not nearly as precise as the Les method) it didn't matter much. I believe they came from Carolina Bricks and are sold here as "fireplace" bricks.

I'm very curious about the cost of the tapered bricks down your way, the ones I saw were very well made and uniform - would have looked great. I just couldn't stomach the cost.
Good luck, keep us posted on your progress.

                Bob,

They look great. Arch one appears not to be tapered and #2 appears to have an 8 degree taper. What is the difference between arch #2 and the wedge.
RT has a point, we need to see the cost per brick and if shipping costs are involved.
RT, where did you get your bricks because we're getting burned (no pun intended) at double the price.
                Cheers!

Tony, it has been 3 yrs since my build so I can't say if they still have them or for what price. Here is the info:

                  Cement Products & Supply
                  516 W. Main St.
                  Lakeland, FL 33815
                  Phone: 863-686-5141

They also had Heatstop 50 mortar at $57 per bag, again, that was 3 yrs ago.
