A roof ?

Brand new guy here.

I see some ovens are covered by roofs. I live in the Pacific Northwest,... lots of rain. Is there a problem of just letting it get rained on,.... sometimes daily? Would it soak through and cause problems. I can see covering it with a tarp in wet & freezing conditions. That would be a no-brainer. I'd hate to put a roof over it to protect it from our rainy skies. Thanks.

I built my oven "igloo" style. That is the dome is covered with a 4 inch blanket of insulation and then a wire mesh based stucco covering which makes it pretty weatherproof.

The point is that the bare-looking igloo style ovens are actually covered in a weather-proof stucco, just like all the stucco architecture popular in the southwest.

BTW, I'm building in Seattle. Where are you?

I'm in construction mode at this time and plan on a roof. Partially to protect the dome from the elements, but also with the intent of filling up the space around the dome with perlite for additional insulation.
