  • Voids in the Dome?

    Hey All,

Just started my Casa2G100 install this morning, and I'm having trouble getting the dome to fit together. Seems too loose, and has voids that I can see daylight through.

If I had to guess, I'd say the floor tiles are too big. There's absolutely no void between the tiles and the dome.

If I jam the cap on, the voids are more than half an inch.

If I leave the cap off, I can get them to less than half an inch.

Should I shave the dome? Shave the cap? Shave the floor tiles?

Thanks for any insight you can give.

I called them yesterday. The person helping me needed to talk to the manager, and swore she would call me back in an hour.

Have gotten nothing but radio silence since then.

I sure don't want to screw up a $3000 project.

I have a different Casa model but those gaps look well within norms. The gaps are what you cover with the refractory cement. I don't see anything regarding the fit to be concerned about.

However, while the inside of the dome appears clean, it appears you have soot on some of the exterior seams. When you cement the pieces the cement should be CLEAN with no dust or soot so that you get a good bond.

Thanks for the advice. I mortared it together this morning and everything seems ok.
