Dismantle and Move Modular Oven

I need to move my oven due to flue position and neighbours

It is a modular oven with a ceramic fibre insulation, chicken wire and 2 coat sand cement mortar over the top
when you tap it you can hear the hollow layer between mortar and modular kit

The base of the kit was cited on a metal / concrete base but was not stuck down, it's own weight held it in place

Has anyone done this or does anyone have any advice ?

I am thinking once the mortar layer is off then the fibre insulation comes off revealing the original kit for me to then move it

Any help it advice would be appreciated

How far are you moving it...across the yard or across the town??? If across the yard see if you cant rent a fork lift that is capable of moving it to a new location. Do the whole thing in one piece.

I think Faith has it. It sounds like the base is not attached so you should have one module including the base/hearth/oven including insulation that should move without damage. Just have to have the site where it is to go ready to accept it and you should be right.

No chance of modifying the flue so it discharges higher or in a different direction? Pity to have to move it once it is finished.

I can't forklift it as I won't be able to get one in the back garden.

Once the cement top coat is off the modular kit, which is in 6 prices on the dome and 5 on the base should come apart easy and it was not fixed except but it's own weight and gravity

It is a shame to move it but in hindsight I did not take into account neighbours properly

A crane might be an alternative. Difficult not knowing your situation but it is a pity to dismantle it.

An answer to Faith's question might help with an idea! Some pics of the oven might help also. Everybody should know this trick. The rollers in the pic could have been placed on runners, which woud have made it even easier than trying to roll a load across soft turf.



But also, we have an old historic church in our neighborhood that was moved about 100 yards on logs in the same manner to make way for a highway. That was a little before my time . My dad said that they used logging mules and oxen for the power source.

Your oven doesn't weigh any where in the neighborhood of a large church.
