  • Health and safety concerns?

I'm planning on doing a hack for my Traeger wood pellet BBQ to try and create a "pizza oven" of sorts. The plan is to cut a fire clay chimney flue down to size and place it on the BBQ surface.

It's more of an experiment, but I'm wondering if anyone knows if there might be something in the composition of the flue material that might be unhealthy for cooking.

I would not think so, they are just clay .

Thanks. I figured as much, but you just never know. I'd be a nasty surprise to get lead poisoning from an oven. Once I build the little "oven" I'll let you know how it works. If it turns out, it'll be my portable pizza oven.

The only lead in clay products would be in the glazes. There are no glazes on flue liner.
