That goes for towing any trailer...yes ovens are heavy, but in this case, the damage would be just as bad if it were a trailer full of anything dense; gravel, cows, sod, firewood, etc. Unfortunate for the loss of life and harm, trailer towing principles need to be reviewed here. A search of that accident resulted in pics showing the tow vehicle as a full sized van, of adequate capacity, with no damage to the hitch...the oven appears to be a small, trailer mounted unit, but the pics don't show it's hitch clearly. What failed on the trailer...or was there an error on the operators' part?

This very sad for everyone involved.
It's still unclear what happened. The chains do not appear to have been damaged.
