    Hi all.
    seem to have got the bug now to build my own pizza oven from clay. So thank you!
    a few questions if any of you could help me with.

    - what clay can I use, is normal terracotta clay mixed with sand ok?
    - for the 2nd layer, has anyone used the fibre blacker over the clay with chicken wire and then applied a layer of clay over that. Or is it best to just stick to clay.
    - lastly. How many 12.5kg would you expect to use on a small oven.

    We do not see many cobb oven so response will be limited. If you are going through the effort, why not consider a homebrew refractory cast oven over a sand mold. There are several examples in this section of the forum and with a little research on your end, most all the answers are located here along with some well documented builds.

        Hey there, i have found a bit more about cob ovens over at the permies.com site (i have been building a clay oven myself)
