The floor is inside the dome. I would like to use a full brick for the first course. Any issue with standing the bricks upright for the first course and placing them on the FB board that is surrounding the oven floor? I am sure this is fine just want to make sure there is not a compression issue with the FB board if it do it this way.

Re: first course on top of FB insulating board?
The first course is called the soldier course and is fine to stand vertically. Just ensure that you cut around 15˚ off the top edge in order to kick the next course at the required angle and also reduce the mortar thickness.
Check out my build as there are alot of pictures with the finer detail to see,. I have attached one here to show the full solier course.

No problem with the soldier course standing on the insulation. In fact, not having it on the insulation would allow heat to leak from the dome to the hearth slab.Joe
