  • Steam through my blanket...

First full temp fire yesterday and first pizzas, things went really well. About 1.5 hrs after starting the fire I noticed the steam coming through the fire blanket. I know this happens, my questions are....

    1. Do I need to check under the blanket at this time for cracks? I don't notice any on the inside of the dome.
    2. I want to make more pizza tonight any issue with bringing back to full temp or do I need to wait a few days for it to totally cool?

Your brick and insulation hold a LOT of water. It will take time to completely dry it out. That's what the steam is. The fact that it's still exposed means that it can wick up dew and atmospheric moisture: I'd keep it tarped when it's not hot to minimize that until you get your final covering made.

Continuing to fire up the oven is the best way to dry it out completely.
