  • Bop's build

Started my build...pics to come soon.

Poured the insulating hearth today perilite and portland cement 5:1.

Ended up only being 2 1/2 inches thick. The closest supplies are an hour from home, so a quick trip for more peralite was not possible.

Options? Can I pour a second layer? Will I be ok with only 2 1/2 inches? Do I just scrap it and continue to call pizza hut? ( just kiiding about the last option)

    Opinions please.

I had a similar situation to yours, just poor the second layer ontop as soon as its viable. It should have a good contact as the mixture is normally not too smooth..

    Get them pics up!

I too had the same problem. I started with perlite and the second layer was vermiculite. About 2 1/2'' each layer and it's working great. You are better off getting more insulation as 2 1/2 is not near enough.
