  • Using Tapered #1 Arch Fire Bricks???

Anyone ever use this brick to build the dome of the oven? It looks like the layout would build a perfect 44" oven with a 16" dome height. My thoughts are to use the pre-cut taper to set the shape of the dome and cut the side tapers to fit the circle of each course.

    Thoughts or experience with this???

It looks like this was posted about a year ago now, I just found some #2 arch firebricks for a steal on craigslist. The bricks weigh 6.5 lbs each, so hopefully they are a good type, I'm guessing the #2 is a more pronounced taper?, 2 1/2" down to 1 3/4". Just wondering if your project worked out for you and if you have any advice? Thanks!

Shouldn't that be 22" dome height?
The refractory company which made the bricks I use are now making bricks like those to suit a dome of 1M - too late for me though. I would say you can't go wrong.
