This is my first post in the forums. I have enjoyed countless hours reading the forums and admiring some amazing projects.
With a rough plan in mind I checked local (OC CA) Building material yards and have found them lacking. So I ordered a 42 inch Kit from FB and plan Visit the Mother Ship in Marina in a couple of weeks to pick up the materials.
I was surprised by the cost of the insulated chimney systems by Duratech. As an alternative, dose anyone have experience installing a metal single walled chimney liner such as the product here: 316L Chimney Champion Rigid Chimney Liner Kit - 8" | WoodlandDirect.com: Chimney Accessories, Chimney Liners, Champion Ridgid 316L Chimney Liner Kits
How important is it that the chimney be insulated (aside from the obvious isolation from combustibles)?
Though an avid DIYer - this is my first project involving masonry. All advise welcomed.
