The depth of your landing should be deep enough to support a vent that can accommodate an 8" ID flue. My oven is also 39", and my landing is 15" deep, primarily to shield the oven from wind. A shallower landing means easier access to the oven, food, and fire maintenance.

Hey thanks for the reply gianni, very nice build u had going also. I dont think i am going to have 15 inches well i would butthen i would not have a finished landing. So basically am i going to do this as per the 42" spec? what is the width of your entry and height inside the dome and opening?

      Dave.

Thanks Dave. A 39" oven is essentially the same as a 42", so the specs will work fine. My inner arch measures 20"w x 11 5/8"h, which is 61% of my oven ceiling height of 19", which was designed to be 18.5" but mysteriously grew 1/2" during construction.
Remember, these ovens are pretty low-tech and don't have to be precisely-built to operate. Just take your time during your build and post lotsa pics
