Hello just got my oven temp to 700 deg and just noticed a crack in my arch just wondering if this is ok the crack seems to go thru the brick..all answers appreciated thanks..
Hey guys now i think i have a problem that crack before was nothing compared to this one now it starts at bottom of the dome and goes all the way up to dome ..can someone tell me what i should do please, now im freaking out.
As I said Dave, cracks happen. There really isn't much you can do about it and I don't think it will be a problem. I have seen one oven that had a 5/8 inch crack - that is huge! He was still able to enjoy his oven and it didn't come crashing down.
wow it sucks ,,you put all that hard work into something you try to get it perfect ya know. i was going to cancel my pizza party tomorrow because of it..so you say just leave it alone huh?

That one looks about like mine, though mine cuts through a few bricks (doesn't stay in the joints). I have found that it expands a bit when hot, then closes up to just larger that yours when cool. I wouldn't worry about it. If it will make you sleep better, try and seal it, and when you figure out how to get grout or hi-temp caulk into that tiny crack, please let me know
No worries, I have a crack just like it! Your oven created it's own expansion joint exactly where it needed one. The oven will continue to use this same crack each time it's fired to expand and contract. Do NOT fix it. Chances are it's the last one you'll get.
Ok thanks for the info everyone, I just started freaking out. I started thinking that i messed up On my home brew mix .This is my brick oven you guys know what I mean lol .I love this oven.

Thought of something could it be that I hit the temp in the oven to high to soon would that have anything to do with it? Is it normal to pile a lot of wood when starting the oven up?

Once your oven is cured it really shouldn't matter. It's not like you can go from 0 to 1000 degree's in a second. Your bricks needed to find their happy place - the crack shows you where that is.
Nope. Every oven cracks. You built a solid structure that WILL expand and contract with heating and cooling. As Les said, your oven found it's happy place.
I promise, in a few months you won't even notice the crack.
I guess we all need a happy place Les i am gonna find mine when i get this bottle of wine open, you are right Ken in a couple months i will probably forget about it..ok all thanks, and cheers
