  • mortar for dome: masonry cement mixed with sand and fireclay??

I'm ready to start laying up my courses. Can I use masonry cement mixed with equal parts of sand and fireclay? Should I wait until I can get some Portland Cement and substitute that for the masonry cement? I want to do it right the first time. The store where I bought my bricks stated that standard masonry cement would be fine, but I want to be certain.

It should be fine, it is either portland and lime, or a special grind of portland with limestone, either way is OK.
