  • oven opening widht and arch form

    Hi,
I am begining my opening arch, due to brick size I have 2 options for the opening:
    1. width - 500mm ( 20") hight- 280mm (11")

    2. widht - 430mm ( 17") hight - 270mm (10.6)

My oven is 36" with dome of 18" high.

I know the difference between the options are not so big, but I want to make sure that from one hand the oven will be efficient as possible (smaller opening) but on the other hand convenient for working.

    what do you guys think?

regarding arch form, after deciding the final size I'll cut my form out of plywood, should I take in consideration the space for the mortar between the bricks? ( Im worried that after mortaring the bricks the final arch size will be larger due to the space taken by the mortar)

    Thanks,
    Eyal.

Im sorry but what does brick size have to do with opening size?
Your opening can be what ever you need it to be regardless of brick size.

18" dome height x .62 for the golden ratio gives you 11" door height.
