I am trying to figure out how much vermicrete I will need for my hearth. I have the concrete layer installed and am ready to poor the vermicrete layer. I understand that I will need to mix the hearth layer at a 5 to 1 or 6 to 1 ratio. My question is how much do I purchase to ensure that I have enough for the job. Any ideas on how to guestimate how much vermiculite and portland cement will be needed?
