Re: 36" Pompeii in South Africa
Hello Ray
Welcome.
I built a 36" oven and used 2 50lb bags of Heat Stop 50 refractory mortar. I did cover the dome in Home Brew mortar to save the good stuff for the dome brickwork and the entry.
I was very careful with the amount I mixed to avoid waste.

Ray
The 'plug' is the keystone in the top of the dome.
1) Yes
2) You should be able to change that on the spreadsheet and the brick count will recalculate to accommodate that size.
It is a great tool. One of the valuable resources the forum contains thanks to those who chose to share.

So
1) Vertical Course Height is what standing proud above the floor
2) My brick size is 3" h x 4.5" w x 9" long, how can I change this in the brick count?
ABSOLUTELY AWESOME TOOL!! Thank you so much!

36" Pompeii in South Africa
Hi All,
I'm still in the planning phase and attached part of that trying to figure out the brick quantity as well as angles to cut the bricks. I know these drawings does not give me the angles of the bevels I need to cut but that I will figure out as I build.
Basically I just want to know if I'm on the right track in my way of thinking (POSSIBLY OVER THINKING!!) and then looking at the amount of courses if someone can give me a idea of how much Refractory mortar I'll need. We get them here in 25kg bags. I would like to cover the dome in Ref Mortar and then add the CF Blanket.
Regards
