I am getting ready to lay my cooking floor. My plan is lay a herringbone pattern for my bricks then scribe the circle so I know where to cut the outer bricks. The plan is to enclose the floor bricks inside of the dome (vs. setting the dome on the floor bricks).
My question is do I use the fireclay/sand/water leveling material from the beginning knowing that I will have to pull the scribed bricks for cutting? Or do I do a test pattern, cut my bricks to fit, and then lay down the fireclay/sand/water leveling material and lay out the bricks in the final pattern?
