  • looking for pictures of free standing vents

I have seen one or two completed ovens with free standing vents (no supporting walls under the vent)

Does any one have any more pictures of ovens with vents like this?

I am thinking of building a house style oven and doing the vent in this manner but am curious to see how others have done this.

I have not seen one on the boards. Sounds like you are talking about a traditional vent that you would see over a cooktop?

This would be nice in that it would likely catch all of the smoke. But it would need to be built up around it in order to funnel everything into it.

Can you post a picture of what you are talking about or submit a drawing?

In the forno bravo plans it shows a metal vent which I haven't seen any of these in photos but attached are several examples where they are free standing (not having supporting walls.)

In these examples I imagine but don't know for sure that the chimney runs at an angle up and back toward the center of the dome before turning straight up.

It looks to me like you answered your own question. It is a neat idea, but could be a little tricky to do properly. I would guess you are going to want to oversize your chimney one size to help make sure it draws well. I am sure people will chime in and offer advice, but I don't remember seeing anything like this in the build threads. Good luck. It is a neat idea.

I did my vent free standing. Not the most beautiful vent, but very functional.
