  • Sairbond Refractory Mortar

Can Sairbond be used for the mortar. I started my first chain and it doesn't seem to dry very hard. Does it have to be heated to cure and if so can the oven be built with it and then be cured when the oven gets "burned in".

No, it is not suitable for this application. It is made for very thin joints, 1/16" to 1/8" max, and it is more of a chinking material than a true cement.

Thanks for the quick reply...I had decided to go ahead and make the "home-brew" instead with PC,FC,S&L because it just didn't feel right with the Sairbond. Now I have to go back and clean the first chain and start again... (sigh)... I also have to see about returning the two unopened bags of Sairbond @$55.00 a pop.
